Holy Communion on the Tongue

EucharistPicture source: AciPrensa

A lighthearted look from a priest's perspective.

Both dentists and priests see a lot of tongues.

And this brings us to the new question for tongue receivers - in front of or behind the piercing. That happened to my husband as he was distributing communion at mass one day and it sparked quite a conversation in the sacristry after mass.

LOL. I've glad to say I've never come across that problem.

I am always afraid of not doing this properly after receiving this way for 7 or more years! I think I may have touched Father with my mouth a few times and that I am annoying him by not opening up wide enough but also trying to refrain from showing him my dental work!

wfEsther,

I can't seem to locate your e-mail at the moment so I'm leaving a comment here.

Mahalo! I'm deeply grateful!

Diana, I actually had a priest stop me and say something like "Young lady, please open your mouth wider and stick out your tongue". I was mortified.

Fr. Daren, it was our pleasure!

I would have died, but I suppose, like a dentist who tells you to open wider, he just trying to avoid the Host being dropped. That would be the ultimate worst!
