Catholics Beware of "Nice Guys"

Many of you may be familiar with Bob and Penny Lord who have taught us so much about the saints on EWTN What you may not know is that they have a blog. I found the following post on their blog.
Arius was a nice guy. He was a heretic of the Fourth century. He was a charmer. He had the ability to twist the truth in many ways. He was well versed in music. One of his means of deceiving people was to take the popular tunes of the day and write words which espoused his heresies. The big heresy he tried to promote with his lyrics was that Jesus was not Divine. He twisted some Scripture passages to bring his point home, such as Jesus not knowing when He would return (Matthew 24:36.) Arius insisted, if He was God, He had to know everything. Therefore, He could not be God. Also the fact that Jesus died, God could not die. Therefore, Jesus was not Divine. Arius taught that Jesus was created, God’s first act of creation, but He was not God. Arius claimed Jesus was special; He was just not Divine. This goes against everything we have believed in from the beginning of the Church...

Petition to Withhold Holy Communion from CINOs.

H/T to Some Have Hats

Pewsitter has started a Petition to Withhold Holy Communion from prominent dissident Catholics.

I have not signed the petition...yet. I am also not asking any of my readers to do so either. That is entirely up to you.

Although, I feel it is scandalous that these public "Catholic" figures continue to thumb their nose at the Catholic church, and still have the nerve (I wanted to use a well-known Yiddish term here but I think it is a bad word), to go up to receive our Lord's Body in Holy Communion, ... do we have the right to petition our bishops to act?

I really don't know. I would think the bishops are well aware how they have to follow the church's teachings and guidelines for dealing with unrepentant Catholics, without the laity getting involved.

I know my own husband is becoming very outspoken in calling for these "Catholics'" excommunication.

But as far as I am know, the Church isn't run that way.

Regarding the Gospels

1st Sorrowful MysteryPicture from Gefroh Family Rosary Collection

Last year there was a big hullabaloo about the newly discovered Judas Gospel. This year apparently a secret gospel of Mark has been found!! Imagine that!

But let us remember what what the early Church writers had to say:

St. Irenaeus writing during the latter half of the second century wrote that our four Gospels were the only recognized ones: "It is not possible that the Gospels can be either more or fewer in number than they are."

Origen summed it up quite concisely during the first half of the 3rd century:
"The Church has four Gospels, heretics have many more."

Questions to Ask Women Priests

I visited a new blog today, Bonfires of the Vanities, and found these very interested questions posed by Fr. Martin Fox

"It would be appropriate, in my judgment, for the media to ask a lot tougher questions of these ladies and their movement:

* Is this only about women's ordination? Does that mean you aren't seeking any change in Church teaching on, say, divorce-and-remarriage, contraception, homosexual behavior, or other areas that are controversial?"
