Silence in Church

Holy Eucharist

Even before the celebration itself, it is commendable that silence be observed in the church, in the sacristy, in the vesting room, and in adjacent areas, so that all may dispose themselves to carry out the sacred action in a devout and fitting manner.

I have to admit this is a bug bear with me. I get so irritated when people wave and shout across pews to each other. It IS Church and NOT a social event.

One family even ATE during Mass! I got so annoyed I gave them one of my 'looks'. The mother tried to explain later that they had gone to the footy and didn't have time to eat....I replied that Jesus was Thirsty..who stopped to give Him water?

Anway I will now stop my pet rant and give your poor eyes a rest lol.

Peace, JOY & Love to you:)

Oh gee Marie! BTW, what is a footy?

I was trying to pray at Mass yesterday and a lady sat next to another lady and they chatted audibly to me at least until Mass started. I let myself be distracted by their chatter.

How can one NOT be distracted?!

It's always the elderly ladies, too (among others, of course, but they seem to be the worst and every.single.parish we have been to.) They are the worst! You'd think they would be the ones setting an example. GRR! Hellooo...have you spent ANY time with Jesus?! Seriously! How can I expect reverence from my sons when we are the only ones doing it? I understand that some of these ppl are probably lonely, but come on! Do these ppl not have phones?! Can they not talk outside of Mass? Meet afterwards for a cup of coffee?

It's a big pet peeve of mine, too, can you tell?

Prayers for them to SHHH! and for me to offer it up until they do!
