Our Lady of America and Ground Zero

OLOA
Yesterday my friend Lois called me all excited about hearing that the Statue of Our Lady of America would be at Ground Zero. She asked if I had heard or read anything. At the time I hadn't. Late last night, I did find that the ever vigilant Leticia had posted about Our Lady of America on her blog. She had the privilege of speaking with Fr. Andrew Apostoli who is leading the cause for the canonization of Archbishop Fulton Sheen. He shared the following with Leticia:
Fr Apostoli he told me what was most on his mind, the apparitions of Our Lady of America, which were approved by several American bishops. In a recent apparition, Our Lady asked that her statue, pictured here, be installed in the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. She said that the graces which she would disperse from this action would "surpass those of Lourdes and Fatima".

Her statue will make the rounds tomorrow on 9/11 from Ground Zero to the Old St. Peter's Church in lower Manhattan.

Our Lady of America will visit the sanctuary where Fr. Mychal Judge's body was brought after his death while ministering to the victims of 9-11.It is hoped that Our Lady of America will grant consolation for devout and patriotic people who will be present at New York in the World Trade Center neighborhood this coming September 11th. Click here for background on Church of St Peter's involvement during 9-11.

The statue will be on display later that day at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Dear Catholic Mom in Hawaii,
How can you believe in this "Our Lady of America" false "apparition"? That is so ridiculous! We need to be wise and when some one claims to have had a apparition we should be skeptical at first! If we don't then we will be praying our rosaries in front of oil stain madonna's thinking this is really Mary appearing! Also the part about giving more graces from "Our Lady of America" than at Lourdes or Fatima is so pathetic! Why can't we stick to the real Blessed Mothers apparitions and heed her true words! Or is it because a total reform of ourselves and the world, like Our Lady requested is to hard for us? Do we want Our Lady to give us Americans are own message like take my statue to ground zero and everyone be friends and lets all share a donut after this?!
I hope this hasn't sounded rood I really don't mean it that way but I think we should be very cautious about new "apparitions". God Bless
a fellow Catholic

Thanks for posting this one. Otherwise, I'd have missed it entirely.

Anonymous, being cautious is one thing but completely dismissing a message that may in fact be from the Blessed Mother would not be beneficial to us.

Anonymous,
You may regret those words if ever get the chance to meet Our Lady of America. If her message has nothing contrary to Church teaching then that is a first step to believing it could be authentic. Secondly, her message seems to be very similar to Fatima and Lourdes (contrary to your donut theory) as from what I read she is calling people to chastity and a change of life in America. Something America nees desprately! This is not the average Joe "oil stained" or cookie cut out of Mary apparition. I'm thinking this may be real, though not putting my whole FAITH into this, her message is important and therefore I find to reason to doubt it.

God Bless!

I would have to agree with anonymous on this issue although you all made good points. I visited the "Our Lady of America" website and I read about this "appariton". The "Our Lady of America" "apparitions" contradict Our Lady's words at Fatima. Regarding peace the Blessed Mother said the only way for the world to expierience peace would be for the Pope to concencrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. But Mary NEVER said any thing about America being the tool of God for world peace. One more point is if any of you read the book of Apocalypse in your Douay-Rheims Bible you will clearly be able to see that we may indeed be in the end times! A scarry but true thought and America is not even mentioned once in Apocalypse although Russia and China are. So it would seem hard to believe that God changed his mind and decided that a war hungry, sinking nation should be chosen to give the world peace. I hope these thoughts may have been helpful.
In the Holy Family,
Annie Marie

Anonymous and Annie Marie, I will read more about this apparition. I am only going by what I have read on other blogs. However, the blogs I read are from very reliable people whose judgments I trust.

Quite interesting all of the discussion about this. it seems that a dismissive attitude toward this is judgmental. Fatima is not in the bible either, so does that me we dismiss that messge? Of course not. God uses all avenues to bring about change in us for conversions and the will of His desire in ALL manner. I have read the messages on the website that tells of the history, and their is NOTHING contrary to the Church teachings. It does say that we need to be instruments of prayer to bring about peace. Oh yea, by the way that is what Fatima says to bring world peace...along with the rosary. Lois
