The Stylish Blogger Award
My lovely and funny friend Mary, has bestowed a new award on me. It is the Stylish Blogger Award....woo hoo...aren't I special ;-)But alas, this honor doesn't come without strings attached. I need to share 7 things about me with you. The nice thing about this award is that I get to share the honor with five other bloggers.
1. Through my father I learned to love a wide range of music...traditional Peruvian music....classical...Big Band.....Classic Rock....Pop....Sinatra and the other Rat Packers, and now with my son and nieces/nephews I can add some hip hop and rap. I don't believe it either.
2. My favorite composer is Pyotyr Illyich Tychaikovsky; and I'm not talking just the Nutcracker Suite either. As a teen right out of high school I ordered the Time Life Tychaikovsky collection for my listening pleasure.
3. I may have mentioned this already once before. After all, this blog is 5 years old already. But I cannot cook when I am not hungry. If I am full, my family is out of luck. I will also not taste my food while I am cooking because it will ruin my appetite.
4. I am very careful not to mention weight to either thin or heavier people because I know how much it affected me growing up when kids or adults would tell me I was too skinny. I really wish people would be more sensitive about that when talking to pre-teens and teens. It really does affect the way the see themselves their whole lives.
5. I am not much of a talker. I always feel I say the wrong things. I think that is God's way of telling me to shut up and listen more. I am happy when my friends do all the talking then there is a good chance, I won't say something dumb or God forbid offensive to someone.
6. I talk to my mother twice a day. This is not necessarily done out of duty but because I enjoy talking to her. We laugh a lot and she still teaches me a lot about life and family.
7. I hate talking about myself. You have no idea how much I had to think about this one in order to share something with you all.
Now! So now, this lovely award goes to:
1. Therese of Aussie Coffee Shop
2. Jean of Catholic Fire
3. Melissa of Make Sense of this Spence
4. Cathy of A Bit of the Blarney
5. Helen of Catholic Seeking

My First Award of 2010 - Sisters in Faith Award
And, I have the lovely Catholic Mom in Minnesota my friend Tracy, bestowing this honor on me.
Thank you very much Tracy. I am truly touched by the gesture.
I should mention that this lovely award originated over at Blessings For the Day
The rules are as follows...and by the way, all the ladies on the sidebar truly deserve this award.
1. Chris of Domestic Vocation
2. Barb the SFO Mom
3. Jean of Catholic Fire
4. Tracy of the Woodland Word
5. Ellen From Across the Net
These ladies have been blogging with me from almost the beginning...2006.
And the new Sister of Faith, is MaryEllen of Grandma's Musings even though I've known Maryellen for a while, she was not with me at the beginning. She therefore falls into the new category.
Thank you very much Tracy. I am truly touched by the gesture.

...as blog awards go, you are supposed to pass them on to others who you feel represent the spirit of the award... In this case, the instructions are:
1. To pass this award on to sisters who have been blogging with me from almost the beginning,
2. Include at least one new Sister In Faith.

Queen for the Day

I am deeply touched that Cathy thought enough about me to bestow another award. Don't you just love it! Thank you very much dear Cathy.
Rules:
1. List Seven Things That Make You Awe-Summm!
2. Pass the award on to seven bloggers you read religiously.
3. Tag those seven bloggers.
First of all, I do not think for a minute that I could ever be considered "awe-summm" but for the sake of fun here goes:
1. My family thinks I can whip up a tasty treat with virtually nothing left in the frig or cupboard.
2. I have a very good memory, especially for names and faces.
3. I have an internal timer. I don't need no stinking alarm clock to wake me up in the morning.
4. I have watched every episode of I Love Lucy so often that I can pretty much recite the dialogue with very little prompting.
5. Same thing can be said about the movie The Godfather.
6. I can easily call each member of my family my best friend.
7. I pray for animals.
It was hard to narrow my list down to seven bloggers whom I read religiously and think are also "awe-summ". The ones I finally chose are:
1. Gae of Cherished Hearts at Home
2. Adrienne's Catholic Corner
3. Anne of Imprisoned in my Bones
4. Deb of Ukok's Place
5. Lana of Knit and Pray
6. Nancy of Be Not Afraid
7. Charlotte our favorite Cheeky Pink Girl

Nominated for the Pro-Life Blog Awards

Having been really down in the dumps since Honey went missing, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had been nominated by DR of Maritime Sentry for the Prolife Blog Awards. I am happy to report that their fine blog has also been nominated.
I am also happy to report that all the blogs I wanted to nominate (and would have earlier, had I not been so busy at home) were also nominated. Just to name a few:
Catholic Fire
Causa Nostrae Laetitiae
Faith and Country
as well as Maritime Sentry.
I have since posted my nominees.
Thanks again DR!

Accepting Nominations - Catholic New Media and Innovation Awards

The following is from Love to Be Catholic founder Tom Hall
Friends,More on the Catholic New Media and Innovation Awards
At long last, I am moving forward with an informal award to recognize
excellence in Catholic New Media and innovation. This is my small effort to
bring attention to the good work of many talented people who unselfishly
find unique and original ways to evangelize the Catholic faith.
I set up a special email account to accept suggestions:
awards@lovetobecatholic.com.
There are no specific award categories. I prefer to keep the nomination
field broad and defined only as new media and innovation. It will be fun to
see what suggestions people send to us.
Here is a link to my blog post about the awards:
If you will kindly promote this idea in your colleagues, friends, and blog
readers, I will be very grateful.
Peace be with you this joyous season,
Tom Hall

Book Worm Award and Meme

Mahalo nui loa to Alexandra for bestowing this honor on me! She must know I have a weakness for books ;-)
Here are the rules:
Pass this on to 5 blogging friends. Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write the 5th sentence, as well as two to five sentences following that.
"Miserable sinners". - The Exhortations
"Read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest [the Scriptures]." - The Second Sunday in Advent. The Collect.
Ha! How do you like those quotes? The closest book to me was The Littlest Gargoyle but that only had 48 pages. The next closest was Familiar Quotations by John Bartlett.
Okay, the recipients of this award are the following blogger friends:
1. Fr. Daren
2. Christine M
3. Barb
4. Heather
5. Cy
I had many more to name but I'm only limited to 5!

Bloggers of the World!!
.....Award! (You thought I was going to say "Unite", didn't you?)

That very popular British Blogger...Mac has awarded me this new and coveted award! I went back a bit to see how many people we are supposed to bestow the honors on. It appears that the original was 8 and then someone changed it to 10. So I pick 10 bloggers from far and wide:
1. View From the Pews in Australia How could I not choose them?
2. The Whitestone Name Seeker. One day I must inquire what her name means.
3. UKOK's Place and another fabulous blogger from the UK.
4. Serviam from Malaysia. And, it's good to see Mark blogging again.
5. A Bit of the Blarney I know she's in the US but I like to imagine her blogging from the Emerald Isle.
6. St. Therese's Roses formerly Divine Mercy in Canada.
7. Grandma's MusingsI'm not quite sure which state but I do know it's in the good ol' U.S. of A.
8. Catholic Warrior in Colorado.
9. Catholic Fire in Kansas.
10. and how could I end this w/o picking a blogger from NJ....From Across the Net and now that I know Ellen plays tennis, the name of her blog makes a lot of sense!
