Papal Quote Re: Apparitions
The following quote was left in the comment section of a post on Medjugorje.
Long ago Pope Urban VIII addressed the issue of apparitions by stating: "In cases which concern private revelations, it is better to believe than not to believe, for, if you believe, and it is proven true, you will be happy that you have believed, because our Holy Mother asked it. If you believe, and it should be proven false, you will receive all blessings as if it had been true, because you believed it to be true."

Tiny nun takes on tall task of defending Pope Pius XII

This "tiny" sister is Sister Margherita Marchione, a Filipini Sister in whose Mother House is in NJ
Nearly 50 years after the death of Pope Pius XII, one of his strongest supporters thinks the beatification of this controversial wartime pontiff may be just around the corner.CNS Article
The optimism of Sister Margherita Marchione, a member of the Religious Teachers Filippini, stems from her desire to see her tireless campaign to reveal the truth about this pontificate finally bear fruit.
She has spent the past decade gathering eyewitness evidence and documentation showing claims that Pope Pius did little or nothing to save the Jews from Nazi atrocities are based on ignorance, error or lies...

An Assurance of Ultimate Victory

"The enemies of the Church, who think that their time has come, will see that their joy was premature, and that they may close the grave they have dug"(Mit Brennender Sorge, 19 [1937]).

Feast of St. Pius X

Today is the feast of the "Children's Pope", St. Pius X. There are many good posts out there, like Veni Sancte Spiritus' post or The Catholic Fire's post.
I wanted to share two items from a new blogger I recently found when searching for some Catholic art Idle Speculations:

Saintly Quote
Only a few hours more, and this year too will come to an end and pass into history. I too finish the year and await the new dawn of joy. I go down on my knees before my God and, recalling His kindnesses to me this year, I humble myself in the dust and thank Him with all my heart.Thank you Sue for sharing it.

Pope Benedict is considering bringing back the prayer to Saint Michael.

H/T to Ed of In God's Company
According to Father Amorth (the Vatican's chief exorcist), Pope Benedict is considering bringing back the prayer to St Michael: “I remember a meeting we exorcists had with the Holy Father last year, in which he implored us to follow our mission as exorcists,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying. Father Amorth has also revealed that the Pope is contemplating reinstating use of the prayer said to Saint Michael the Archangel, which was abolished in the 1960s, because it is believed to be the prime protector against evil."Be sure to visit Ed's blog for the links to the accompanying articles.

Hope Springs Eternal...

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

St. Pius XI and Christ the King

Our pastor gave a very moving homily on today's feast day. One thing he talked about was Pope Pius XI and the Feast of Christ the King.
If We ordain that the whole Catholic world shall revere Christ as King, We shall minister to the need of the present day, and at the same time provide an excellent remedy for the plague which now infects society. We refer to the plague of anti-clericalism, its errors and impious activities. This evil spirit, as you are well aware, Venerable Brethren, has not come into being in one day; it has long lurked beneath the surface... We firmly hope, however, that the feast of the Kingship of Christ, which in future will be yearly observed, may hasten the return of society to our loving Savior.QUAS PRIMAS (On the Feast of Christ the King)

Saintly Quote - Husbands
Within the conjugal and family communion-community, the man is called upon to live his gift and role as husband and father. With his wife a man should live a very special form of personal friendship. As for the Christian, he is called upon to develop a new attitude of love, manifesting towards his wife a charity that is both gentle and strong like that which Christ has for the Church.Pope John Paul II (November 22, 1981)
