Gives Catholics the escape clauses needed to vote for a pro-abortion candidate in "good conscience"
Keep in mind though, no matter how the document is written or expressed, if you are a Catholic you know that is is morally wrong to vote for a pro-abortion candidate. And, the main candidate in the presidential race has the worse record of any other candidate when it comes to life issues.

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae," "by the very commission of the offense," and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.
Does FORMAL CO_OPERATION include knowing that a politician is pro-abortion and then voting for the person? I would like to know this becasue if so then every Catholic who vote for a pro-abortion candidate is automatically self excommunicating themselves.
Somewhere on the internet there is a good explanation. Maybe on Priests for Life or maybe I heard it on Fr. Mitch Pacwa's show. Please search on EWTN's site for a clear and concise explanation. www.ewtn.com
