Father "Mitch" explained how one can avoid hell. One way is through consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. St. Louis de Montfort's total consecration would be highly recommended.

Other ways are through:

1. Reading scripture
2. Divine Mercy
3. Monthly confession
4. Holy Mass and Holy Communion

On Divine Mercy:

Pope John Paul II helped spread the message of Divine Mercy throughout the world.

Jesus told Sister Faustina that He bore a special love for Poland.

"Find peace and the world will find happiness".

Jesus said: "Mercy is the greatest attribute of God."

- The miracle of Divine Mercy restores the soul fully.

On Confession:

- The devil tempts us to sin and then instills in us a fear of going to confession.

- It is the unseen sign of God's presence.

- The absolution of sin is a greater miracle than the creation of man or the world.

- Remember, priests are Persona Christi; that is Jesus Himself.

On Examination of Conscience:

- humbly stand naked and look into yourself and ask yourself "Have I given myself completely to Jesus?"

- consider all the sins committed since your last confession, especially those sins that caused Jesus so many wounds.

- After committing mortal sins we have to go immediately to confession. This cannot wait or it will poison our spiritual life and cause catastrophe in our souls.

The following is current news from the Divine Center in Hawaii. I especially direct your attention to the part regarding the filming of the new Divine Mercy Chaplet recitation in Hawaii.

SEVEN YEARS of Trusting in God's Mercy and Divine Providence
As we enter a new decade in the third millennium, we thank God for giving us the grace to persevere in trusting in His Mercy and Divine Providence for seven years now. We give praise to God for allowing us to enter our seventh year of spreading the message and devotion to the Divine Mercy in the Hawaiian Islands. When the Lord spoke to my heart in 2003 and gave me unmistakable signs to start the Divine Mercy ministry in the islands, I never imagined that I would be experiencing many blessings as well as tribulations that would put my faith into test and practice.

For those who still do not know what happened to me and for updates on my condition, please read on my personal testimony "A Test and Lesson in Trust". Here, you will read how I served God in small ways during my illness and at the same time, how I understood the value of suffering. And despite all the difficulties that we encounter in our lives, the Lord tells us to trust in His Mercy and to continue helping Him to save souls.

We have a busy time ahead of us and I am excited to be sharing these plans and other news with all of you. For residents of Oahu, I invite you to make time to attend the upcoming Divine Mercy Crusade from April 7-12. Many people have asked me time and time again, "when is the next Divine Mercy event?" I wasn't intending on organizing an event because of my medical conditions, but the Lord had once again manifested His desire to celebrate and glorify His Feast of Mercy. So things just fell into place and started happening.

For our brothers and sisters outside Hawaii who have signed up in our mailing list, I ask you to pray for us here as we celebrate the Feast of Mercy during the crusade. But more importantly, I ask for everyone's continued support and prayers that I may be able to carry out the Lord's work faithfully. God bless you always.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Divine Mercy Crusade April 2010
The annual Divine Mercy Crusade will take place in six churches in Oahu from April 7-12 in celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy Sunday. We have invited Fr. Tom Sullivan of the Fathers of Mercy based in Auburn, Kentucky to help us reflect on God's invitation to approach Him in the Fount of His Mercy. Fr. Tom, a native of Havertown, Pennsylvania, is a 2004 graduate of Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut and was ordained to the priesthood in May 2004. Prior to his joining the Fathers of Mercy, he owned and operated his own roofing company and worked extensively with the Missionaries of Charity throughout the world and with the Padre Pio Center in Barto, Pennsylvania. During the crusade, Fr. Tom will encourage and challenge the parish community to make a stronger, deeper commit-ment to Christ, His Church and the Sacraments. Click for more info.

Blessing of the Sick with St. Padre Pio Holy Oil
Fr. Tom will bless all those attending the crusade with the holy oil of St. Padre Pio. He will also have a special talk on the life of St. Padre Pio in celebration of the Year of the Priests. The crusade is a free event but love-offerings are most welcomed and appreciated.
Divine Mercy Healing Conference in October 2010
We are pleased to announce the Fourth Divine Mercy Conference. Due to limited funds, resources and time, we are organizing our conferences every other year. It takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice, both financially and physically, to organize conferences or events of great magnitude. The fourth Divine Mercy Conference will be held on October 7 - 9, 2010 (registration required) with a free for all session for youth, children and families on October 10. The theme for the conference will be "The Healing Power of God's Mercy". Subject to change, topics will include "Victory Over Depression", "The Healing Power of the Eucharist", "Our Lady, Health of the Sick", "Deliver Us From Evil", "5 Signs of the Second Coming of Christ", "To St. Faustina: Prepare the World for the Coming of My Son", "Healing of Family Trees", and more. There will be healing services and on Sunday October 10, there will be special healing prayers for generations and families. The Sunday closing Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Larry Silva. Filming of the Divine Mercy Chaplet for EWTN
Jesus said to Saint Faustina Kowalska of Poland: "Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this Chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I desire that the whole world know My Infinite Mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those who trust in My Mercy...." (Diary 687) Our Lord Jesus referred to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy that He dictated word for word to St. Faustina for the whole world to pray.

As a priest of the Diocese of Los Teques, Caracas, Venezuela, Fr. Luis Eduardo Rodriguez worked tirelessly in creating a short film that would recommend the chaplet as a last hope of salvation to mankind. Fr. Rodriquez embarked on this film project with the only global Catholic TV Network - Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). The film would show different people around the world leading in the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet across 5 continents. On February 22 - 26, 2010 Fr. Rodriguez visited Hawaii to capture a representation of the people of Oceania, the last of the 5 continents covering the entire world. He travelled extensively across continents and Hawaii was his last stop before finalizing the film in time for Divine Mercy Sunday. The film would have its debut showing on Easter Sunday. Blessed Sacrament Church in Honolulu Celebrates 10 Years of Divine Mercy Devotion
Ten years ago during the Feast of the Divine Mercy in April 2000, St. Faustina was canonized as the first saint of the third millennium, and Pope John Paul II declared that the Church will observe the second Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday. At that time, a few faithful parishioners of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Honolulu began the formation of a Divine Mercy cenacle prayer and study group that would be instrumental in establishing a weekly Divine Mercy Devotional Mass every Wednesday evening. Ten years after that initial formation, the weekly devotion and study continues under the leadership of Leimomi Kondo. Devotees who come from various parishes, gather at 5:30 pm for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Prior to the celebration of Holy Mass at 6:30 pm, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is made available to all those who are in need. Oftentimes during the Mass, the homily is supported by the merciful words of Jesus to St. Faustina as written in her diary "Divine Mercy in My Soul". After the Mass, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed and recently, Ivana, a 9-year old student of the Cathedral Academy leads the congregation in the recitation of the prayer. The evening devotion is concluded with the veneration of the first-class relic of St. Faustina. A few cenacle members meet after the devotion to further study on the Church's teachings on Divine Mercy. On special occasions, a fellowship and potluck get-together is arranged to foster community growth, support and interaction. We thank those who have persevered these past 10 years and we pray that many will continue to trust in the Mercy of the Lord Jesus. CONGRATULATIONS!

Formation of Divine Mercy Cenacle in St. Joseph, Waipahu
The parish community of St. Joseph in Waipahu, Oahu is pleased to announce the formation of a Divine Mercy cenacle and ministry under the leadership of Rose Balayan and husband Tony. The new ministry is now a permanent part of the parish and hopes to foster devotion to the Divine Mercy and to bring awareness of the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Ron Guzman, MS the ministry's spiritual director will provide the spiritual guidance during the formation. The ultimate goal of pastor Fr. Greg Honorio, MS is to involve this new Divine Ministry in establishing an adoration chapel in the parish. All are invited to be a part of this important ministry and invitation is extended most especially to parishioners of the Leeward Vicariate. Spreading Devotion to the Divine Mercy
The ministry's reach has now gone international and the movement has taken a life of its own. Divine Mercy Congress in Poland 2011
October 2011 - The Second World Congress on Divine Mercy will be held in Poland. The first world apostolic congress was held in Rome in 2008. Next year, leaders and devotees of Divine Mercy will converge in the site of the apparition to further proclaim God's Mercy to the whole world. A Day Trip to Heaven on Earth - EWTN Filming of Divine Mercy

To say a group of us were privileged to go on a pilgrimage to Molokai would be a real understatement. We were extremely blessed to be able to travel to Molokai and do our small part to contribute to a new EWTN project currently underway. My dear friend Easter graciously inquired if my mother and I would be interested in going to Molokai with Ricardo and Danielle B's family, for the Saint Damien portion of a new Divine Mercy recitation.

This lengthy project is under the direction of a truly wonderful man of God, Father Luis Eduardo R. of Venezuela. The filming of this new Divine Mercy film has taken Father Luis all over the world and eventually brought him to film in Hawaii.

Father was given permission to film topside on Molokai. The nine of us, which also included Easter and Father Luis, landed in Molokai very early in the morning. From that moment on, it was a non stop day of greeting new people, both lay and religious, (the Sacred Hearts Brother, Father and Sisters and another Maryknoll sister could not have been kinder to us), making new friends, (they don't call Molokai the Friendly Isle for nothing) and seeing places that Saint Damien saw and was a real part of.

We actually were able to visit two of the churches Saint Damien built!

The first church we visited was St. Joseph.

The second church we visited was Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, approximately five miles from St. Joseph's Church.

Father Clyde G. SS.CC, the pastor of these churches graciously gave Father Luis permission to celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows. This was indeed God looking out for us because we had missed morning Mass.

Father Luis gave a truly powerful homily in Spanish, basically on how some people do not believe that Jesus is truly present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament.  The people who walk past the Blessed Sacrament without reverence or even respect; do not realize that this is our God! He said that some of us walk by Him or treat Him as if He were a dog!

After this beautiful celebration of the Holy Mass, we went to St. Joseph for the filming.  Afterward, we went to have lunch.  It was a real joy to watch the humpback whales playing in the horizon as we waited for our lunch.

Later that day, we drove to the west side of the island (the opposite end of where we were) and visited Kalaupapa Lookout. Since we were unable to visit Kalaupapa for a few different reasons, it was great to be able to at least see the famous, once infamous peninsula.

A rainbow gradually appeared over the whole Kalaupapa peninsula...almost like a small miracle for us to experience! The wind and the rain that fell and chilled us to the bone was a small price to pay to see this God created magnificence right before our eyes!

At 3:00 p.m. we walked into the dense pine-type forest, where the dried needles created a natural carpeting for the walk and the trees created a beautiful silent world for us, there in that beautiful place, we prayed the Divine Mercy together as God's ohana....in Spanish.  Even Easter, the only non-Spanish speaker joined in and led a decade.

Too soon it was time to head back to the airport.

When we began this pilgrimage, I thought it would be a very long day.  Once the day ended, it was if time had flown by in a blink of an eye.

Before we know it, it was back to the hustle and bustle of our dear island.

We were truly blessed yesterday.

Last Saturday there were many locations for a public rosary on the island of Oahu. Our family decided to attended the one in front of the Planned Parenthood. Thought it was a good idea considering we are at the 40 Days for Life midpoint. Although ours was a small group, we know our prayers were powerful. The entire Rosary was prayed as well as prayers to end abortion, the complete (long version) of the St. Michael the Archangel prayer which I understand is also a prayer of exorcism and the St. Louis de Montfort Act of Consecration.

Divine Mercy Messages- Hawaii Conference

"The source and summit of our faith is the Holy Eucharist" - Fr. Donald Calloway

My family and I attended the Divine Mercy Conference on Friday. It was held for a couple of reasons. Firstly, many people had responded positively to the conference held by the Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy held two years ago and had requested another conference. Secondly, it was in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Our Lady of Good Counsel's Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It was a three day conference which included youth session. We attended the Friday evening session.

Four speakers had been invited to this conference. Fr. Donald Calloway, Fr. Deogratias Rwegasira, AJ, Bob and Maureen Digan. Unfortunately, Maureen was unable to travel.

Did you know that the two miracles that were approved for Sister Faustina's beatification and canonization, were both in the United States? Well, Maureen Digan was one of those who was the recipient of St. Faustina's intercession and ultimate miracle by God.

The conference started off with the prayer of the Holy Rosary and then the celebration of the Holy Mass. After a short break, Fr. Calloway was the first to speak.

As usual, he held his audience captive with the story of his conversion. He also reminded us over and over again about God's Divine Mercy. He specifically reminded us that our dear bishop Larry had consecrated the State of Hawaii to the Divine Mercy. When the earthquake hit the Big Island not too long ago, no one was killed.

Father Calloway told us that Kauai also has a EADM division there. That may be the reason that the only abortion provider on that island was recently closed. Thank God!

Father Calloway opened our eyes to the fact that never before in the history of mankind has Mary been appearing more frequently all over the world. It is when times are tough that God sends His mother to us for help and more importantly to persistently correct us.

BTW, did you know that the first apparition was when our Blessed Mother appeared to Saint James? In 40 A.D. while Mary was still alive, she appeared to St. James in Saragossa, Spain.

Families are in need of Divine Mercy. Marriage is under attack, the family is under attack starting with abortion and other evil things that destroy the family, God's Domestic Church.

It is no wonder then, that in our time, God chose John Paul II to be Christ's Vicar on Earth.

John Paul II:

- He rescued and gave us the Divine Mercy message.

- He proclaimed Divine Mercy Sunday.

- He wrote Dives in Misericordia - Rich in Mercy

- God took him home on the Vigil of Divine Mercy

Father Calloway made the following comparison for those who are suffering from the effects of serious sin in their lives:

The Catholic Church is the hospital
Jesus is the Divine Physician
The Blessed Sacrament is medicine for the soul. It is radiation therapy when we come to the Son in adoration. He makes our souls beautiful again.

We are in a war, a war where Good is fighting evil. How do we arm ourselves? We use the most powerful weapons against Satan, the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

One of the last things I remember Father Calloway stressing is that we should be merciful to members of our own family...until it hurts.


The second speaker of the evening started speaking after the Eucharistic Procession into the Church. Father Deogratias Rwegasira, A.J. is a missionary priest of the Apostles of Jesus and is a composer and musician. He spoke on the history on how he came to compose the music for the Divine Mercy Chaplet as well as one of the Fatima prayers. A very interesting story which includes the healing of a woman who sang on his CD and whose husband is a relative of Blessed Andre Bessette! It is because of this couple that Father has been able to promote his CD which supports 166 seminarians!

Father Deo arrived in the United States from Kenya, April 30th 2000, the first Sunday after Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday, when Sister Faustina was canonized.

Father Deo stressed that we should always pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet in front of a person we know is very sick or may be dying. That person then will receive all the graces of Divine Mercy.

Father led us in singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet in front of the Blessed Sacrament, exposed.

It was a very beautiful time of Adoration.

Conference Photos - Part I

The theme of the Divine Mercy Conference was Apostles of Mercy. It was hosted by the Eucharistic Apostles of the Divine Mercy - The Hawaii Cenacles.

The Apostles of Divine Mercy are:

Divine Mercy Conference - Local Event - Day One

Joey and I attended the first day of the conference today.

Boy, were we glad we went! It was just the first day but what an opening! First of all, it's being held at the Hawaii Convention Center in the Waikiki area. Lucky for us, it's within walking distance and walk we did.

We had never been to the convention center before. My dh has often referred to it as the Big White Elephant but it is a beautiful building inside.

We took a very long escalator to the top and we had the feeling of going up to Heaven. This was probably because we knew that Jesus was up there!

We had lots of time to kill so we started exploring the bookstore. I saw some friends and spend time with them while doing a little shopping. All of a sudden I see a familiar face, a young priest. I pulled Joey to the other side of the room and I introduced ourselves to Fr. Donald Calloway. For those of you not familiar with him. He is a priest with quite a story to tell of his youth filled with sex, drugs and rock and roll before Divine Mercy intervened. He is now a priest with the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. We chatted a few minutes and I took a picture of Joey and Father Calloway. We are really looking forward to his talk tomorrow.

So the conference began with the Angelus, the recitation of the Holy Rosary in honor of our Blessed Mother's birthday, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. A local recording artist sang On this Day O Beautiful Mother and Ave Maria while the Knights of Columbus led the procession of the banners of the different Catholic groups and pilgrims.

Then we had the privilege of hearing Dr. Bryan Thatcher, the head of EADM give a very moving speech on God's Divine Mercy.

Honolulu Bishop Dedicates Diocese to the Divine Mercy

On Divine Mercy Sunday of 2006, Bishop Clarence (Larry) Silva dedicated the diocese of Honolulu to the Divine Mercy. The dedication will took place during a ceremony and Mass on April 23 at Star of the Sea Church in Honolulu.

This news did not escape the eyes or ears of other Catholics as evidenced by the following blog entry.
