Feast of Saint Damien

Koa Statue of St. Damien, Sacred Heart Church, Honolulu
Someone inquired about the Litany of St. Damien.  My search led me to this lovely litany which I share with you on the feast day of this beloved saint.  Happy Feast of St. Damien!

Litany of Father Damien

Leader:  O Saint Damien warm greetings. Here we are, people of Hawai’i.
Hawai’i invokes your name, so renowned. Your name resounds against the
cliffs of Kalawao and Kalaupapa, high cliffs on the isle of Moloka’i.  Your
name travels across the sea to distant lands.

O Saint Damien     Pray for us
Salvation of the sick of Moloka’i  Pray for us
Honored son of Belgium    Pray for us
Glorious servant of the Church  Pray for us
Beacon of light for the world   Pray for us
Great heart of compassion   Pray for us
Father and friend of the afflicted  Pray for us
Adopted son of Hawai’i    Pray for us

All:O Saint Damien, listen to our humble prayer. We chant our praise of love
to you. Pray for us and for our loving home. Pray too, for the healing of our
sick, especially for those whose names are written on our hearts, through
the intercession of Mary, Our Lady of Peace, patroness of the Hawaiian
Islands and our Mother. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our
Lord and our God, source of all consolation. Amen.  (composed by Hualani Brandt)

First Friday - Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sacred Heart of Jesus - Molokai
I apologize for not posting this yesterday. I completely forgot about First Friday yesterday!  This is the first time this has happened!!

(with ecclesiastical permission)

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar,
beating with infinite love for mankind
and interceding for us with the Father
at every moment,
with hearts full of loving confidence and trust,
we renew our Act of Consecration to You.

Jesus, we acclaim You as King of Heaven and Earth and especially
as King of our hearts.
Please grant us all the grace
we need to realize this Kingship in our every day lives.
Help us with Your all-powerful grace to overcome all
temptations of the world,
the flesh and the devil so that we may be
always faithful to the consecration we are renewing at this moment.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, we love You.
Help us to grow in this love and to bring
others to know and to love You also,
so that You may reign in our hearts.

Amen.

Novena: Our Lady of Fatima May 3-12

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

The Nine Day Novena To Our Lady Of Fatima

Say for nine days followed by Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be 3 times each

Most Holy Virgin, who has deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three little
shepherds the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of the Rosary, inspire
our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion, so that by meditating on the mysteries
of our redemption that are recalled in it, we may gather the fruits and obtain the
conversion of sinners, the conversion of Russia, and this favor that I so earnestly seek,
(mention your request) which I ask of you in this novena, for the greater glory of God,
for your own honor, and for the good of all people. Amen.

On the Virginal Marriage of St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary

"...the love that St. Joseph had for his wife, the Blessed Virgin.  The fact that it was a virginal marriage does not mean that it was a cold arrangement.  Passion is not necessary to love, nor are bodies.  The romance of Mary and Joseph drew its strength from their holiness, their relationship to Christ."

St. Joseph the Worker

The following is from today's Magnificat's Meditation of the Day:

"...What is crucially important here is the sanctification of daily life, a sanctification which each person must acquire according to his or her own state, and one which can be promoted according to a model accessible to all people: 'Saint Joseph is the model of those humble ones that Christianity raises up to great destinies; ...he is the proof that in order to be a good and genuine follower of Christ, there is no need of great things - it is enough to have the common, simple, and human virtues, but they need to be true and authentic." - Blessed John Paul II.

May - The Month Dedicated to Our Lady

"Granduca Madonna" by Raffaello Sanzio
Father Syd reminded us today begins the month dedicated to our Lady. It is May...Mary without the "r". The "r" reminding us to pray the Rosary.
