Holiday (Christmas) Mail for Heroes
In this season of hope and giving the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes, Inc. have joined forces to invite Americans to “send a touch of home” to United States service members and veterans across the country and abroad. In its third year, the Holiday Mail for Heroes program is an opportunity to share joy and thanks with our service members throughout the holiday season by way of a greeting card....Read the rest here
Today over 1.4 million men and women serve in the U.S. armed forces and over 24 million veterans have served in the past. The holiday season is the perfect time to honor and extend a warm holiday greeting to those who’ve served and continue to do so.
So won't you please send Christmas cards to our military heroes this Christmas.

May: Military Appreciation Month - Prayer for Our Miliary

This post is 14 days late.
The following prayer is from Legionaries of Christ
Prayer for Our Military
O Prince of Peace, we humbly ask
Your protection for all our
men and women in military service.
Give them unflinching courage to
defend with honor, dignity and devotion
the rights of all who are imperiled by injustice
and evil. Guard our churches, our homes, our
schools, our hospitals, our factories,
our buildings, and all those within from harm and peril. Protect our land and its people
from enemies within and without.
Grant an early peace with victory
founded upon justice. Instill in the hearts
and minds of people everywhere a firm purpose
to live forever in peace and good will towards all.
Amen.

December 7th - Pearl Harbor

PRAYER FOR DECEASED VETERAN
O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Veteran's Day

Prayer on Veteran's Day
Dear Lord Jesus Christ,
those whom we honor today
are examples of your words:
"Greater love than this no one has:
that he lay down his life for his friends."
They gave up their lives in the defense of freedom
for their loved ones and their country.
Teach me to appreciate the virtue of patriotism-
a true and Christian love of country.
Let me love my country not to follow it blindly
but to make it the land of goodness
that it should be.
Let my patriotism be such
that tit will not exclude the other nations of the world
but include them in a powerful love of country
that has room for all others too.
Amen

Prayer for Our Deceased Servicemen
As we commemorate the sacrifice of our military on this Memorial Day, let's remember to offer a prayer for those who have offered the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives for our freedom.Thou art all-powerful, O God, and livest forever in light and joy. Look with pity and love, we beseech Thee, upon those men and women who have bravely fought and gallantly died for our country. By laying down their lives, they have showed supreme love for others. We implore Thee to accept their sacrifice and their belief in the justice of the cause for which they died. From Purgatory by Fr. F. X. Schouppe, S.J. and published by Tan Books
May their offering not be in vain.
Deign to forgive any sins or misdeeds they may have committed. Bring them quickly, we implore Thee, into Thine august presence, where fear, sadness, mourning and eath no longer exist. Have pity, in Thy living kindness, on those they leave behind. In Thine own inscrutable ways, make good their absence, and lavishly bestow Thy love and consolations upon those deprived of their presence.
This we ask of Thee in the name of Jesus Christ, Our King.
Amen.

Update - GIs in Iraq Get Their Mats After Enduring Insult From Web-Based Company
Thanks Jeff for the update tip:
"SGT Hess, We do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.
Discount-Mats.com is run out of Khetani's home in West Allis, Wis. In a
telephone interview Tuesday with FOX News, Khetani said he had fired the employee who sent the email, a claim that FOX News has not been able to confirm. He also said he has received thousands of phone calls to his home and business from people protesting the email exchange.
Hess said that he has since found two mat suppliers who shipped to an APO address in Iraq.
Meanwhile, FOX News has received thousands of emails asking how to
donate mats and other items to U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
Rob Timmons, an Iraq veteran and a veteran outreach coordinator, recommended the following Web
