Prayer in Time of Anger

Lord Jesus,
there is anger in my heart
and I cannot root it out.
I know that I should calm down
and offer the hurt and disappointment to you
but my emotion is running away with me.
Help me to overcome this weakness
and give me peace of heart as well as mind.
Let me learn from this experience
and grow into a better human being.

You have been spot on with the anger and disliked person prayers. I'll use them to help me with my pastor with whom I share a mutual dislike.

Good prayer!

A wise Priest once told me to never speak in anger but if someone has maligned you to instead go away, calm down and a few days later speak to that person in private and in kindness. I need to remember that. Thanks Esther for a beautiful prayer:)

Peace and much love to you:)

Ellen, I am happy that the prayer book gives prayers that really help!

Charlotte, glad you thought so.

Marie, it's the same with emails. Never respond immediately...you can compose it, but save it and go back to it when you are less angry or upset. You won't regret it.

I am in such need of this prayer! Lately I have been so frustrated and find myself very angry. May I ask all of you to pray for me? I don't have to tell any of you, as Fr.Groeschel told me 18 years ago, "Anger does not do the work of God."

Marian, I am praying. BTW, Mother Angelica said something similar last evening....anger does not come from God.
