Ah FAF!
The week goes by so fast. This time last week we were in the midst of the Triduum.
The Pieta is my favorite.
I am always amazed at the strong look of those on thrones in his paintings, whether they be men or women. Perhaps it has something to do with the era. I dunno much about the visual arts, but the Blessed Mother/Madonna in so many paintings of that time have huge thighs and strong, ruling stature, rather than a soft feminine look.
Anyone know why?(Seat of Wisdom, perhaps?)
I look forward to this FAF, ES! Mahalo!

Great! Glad you changed your mind Easter :-)

LOL Jackie. BTW, I didn't know that.

You too Cathy!

My art professor Dr. Lunde taught us that if the Blessed Mother were to stand up from that particular Pieta, she would be huge. This was done on purpose by Michelangelo. I believe Fr. Stephanos of Me Monk, Me Meander told me that it is because of where the statue is situated...for perspective's sake.

Now, funny you should mention seat of wisdom. Did you notice the horns on Moses? The horns symbolize wisdom.

I wish I knew how to say You're Welcome in Hawaiian. I keep forgetting that one :-)
