First Saturday - Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Sacred Heart Church, Honolulu

(with ecclesiastical permission)

O Mary, I consecrate myself to you,
Daughter of the Father,
Spouse of the Holy Spirit,
Mother of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.
I will wear your Scapular always
as a sign of this consecration, and
I offer my daily Rosary and the fulfillment of the obligations of each day
in reparation for sins,
particularly those against
your Immaculate Heart, and
against the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.
I desire to be ever more deeply united to His Heart,
in the intimacy of your own Immaculate Heart,
with each passing moment of my life
unto the last.
Amen.

Novena: Our Lady of Fatima May 3-12

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

The Nine Day Novena To Our Lady Of Fatima

Say for nine days followed by Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be 3 times each

Most Holy Virgin, who has deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three little
shepherds the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of the Rosary, inspire
our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion, so that by meditating on the mysteries
of our redemption that are recalled in it, we may gather the fruits and obtain the
conversion of sinners, the conversion of Russia, and this favor that I so earnestly seek,
(mention your request) which I ask of you in this novena, for the greater glory of God,
for your own honor, and for the good of all people. Amen.

On the Virginal Marriage of St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary

"...the love that St. Joseph had for his wife, the Blessed Virgin.  The fact that it was a virginal marriage does not mean that it was a cold arrangement.  Passion is not necessary to love, nor are bodies.  The romance of Mary and Joseph drew its strength from their holiness, their relationship to Christ."

St. Joseph the Worker

The following is from today's Magnificat's Meditation of the Day:

"...What is crucially important here is the sanctification of daily life, a sanctification which each person must acquire according to his or her own state, and one which can be promoted according to a model accessible to all people: 'Saint Joseph is the model of those humble ones that Christianity raises up to great destinies; ...he is the proof that in order to be a good and genuine follower of Christ, there is no need of great things - it is enough to have the common, simple, and human virtues, but they need to be true and authentic." - Blessed John Paul II.

St. Faustina's Description of Hell and What We Must Remember about the Feast of Divine Mercy

The following description is from St. Faustina's diary (741):

First Torture in Hell - The loss of God

Second Torture - The perpetual remorse of conscience

Third Torture - One's condition will never change

Fourth Torture - "The fire that will penetrate the soul without destroying it - a terrible suffering since it is purely spiritual fire, lit by God's anger".

Fifth Torture - "The continual darkness and a terrible suffocating smell and, despite the darkness, the devils and the souls of the damned see each other and all the evil, both of others and their own".

Sixth Torture - The constant company of Satan

Seventh Torture - "The horrible despair, hatred of God, vile words, curses and blasphemies"

"There are special tortures destined for particular souls. These are torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings, related to the manner on which it has sinned...Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like.

I, Sister Faustina, by the order of God, have visited the abysses of hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence...The devils were full of hatred for me, but they had to obey me at the command of God. What I have written is but a pale shadow of the things I saw, But I noticed one thing: that most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell... How terribly souls suffer there! Consequently, I pray even more fervently for the conversion of sinners. I incessantly plead God's mercy upon them. O my Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world, amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend You by the least sin.

On Monday Father Khahn gave a very powerful homily of how we can really benefit from the Feast of Divine Mercy's graces. That is: We must show mercy...we must be kind...and we must be forgiving. Because, Father reminded us, we will need that at the end of our life.

Sacrifice of Titanic's Catholic priests recalled on 100th anniversary
