This week we feature Post-Impressionist Paul Gauguin. He was a French artist whose famous works were painted in Tahiti. I have selected the religious works done by Gauguin. You can read more about his religious themed paintings here.
Paul Gauguin is one of my most favorite artist! I love his Ia Orana Maria piece as well as many others. My Oma whom recently passed had a similar painting style as his, and she actually painted a remake of one of his pieces and I have it hanging in my home.
ReplyDeleteLovely Esther, the Yellow Christ is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteReally Melissa? How wonderful that your Oma painted like that. Vivid colors?
ReplyDeleteMy grandma also painted but her style was more primitive like the early Polynesian drawings that they have at the Honolulu Academy of Art. I'm so glad I kept some of her works especially now that she has died.
Tracy, did you see the Green Christ?
Gauguin's paintings always evoke such richness and emotions for me. Thanks for sharing these.

Paul Gauguin, as famous as he is, should be even more revered, i think! He is one of my favourite impressionist artists and French art produced so many of them, it is truly incredible.
ReplyDeleteJulie, I have to admit your right.
ReplyDeleteTom, yes I guess you are right.
