Another Critic of EWTN

The problem is it is seen by many as “the Catholic channel.” Unfortunately, it is Mother Angelica’s version of the Catholic Church, and it is an outdated view of what “church” is.
Fr. Z posted about a university chair of a theology department and his gripe with the Eternal Word Television Network and Mother Angelica.

Whenever I read articles like this, it only makes me want to donate more money to EWTN.

God bless Mother Angelica and all the good people who work hard to bring us EWTN. It is our light in a world gone dark with sin and evil.

  1. So typical! Typical of those that think the Church and it's "rules" need to change with the times.
I thank God for the Church and the fact that it doesn't change...something I can count on.
    God bless EWTN!

  2. Thank you for posting this I had not heard of this incident and am so disappointed that such an ignorant man is molding young minds in the theology department no less!

  7. Ah yes. Superb example of a masterful ability to rationalize just about anything. Such logic leads to things like. . . voting for Obama.

I spent several years arguing with professors like this. The sad part is many theology departments are like this and they are molding the minds of the catechists, teachers, and DREs that will be teaching our children.

Homeschooling seems more compelling each day

  8. Thanks for your comments everyone. Someone on Father Z's blog suggested making a donation to EWTN in that prof' name and letting him know ;-)

  9. LOL! The church's outdated rules. Who is he now, God?! If he wants a change he should start his own denomination. The Catholic church is not subject to popular vote based on secular values.
