A Priest's Reflection on Gossip

I was cleaning out dead links on my sidebar and came across this article on gossip which struck home for me.  There are many times I feel compelled to "discuss" someone with a close friend.  Afterward, I feel terrible and I know it is because I have chosen to gossip.  As my mother always says "En bocas cerradas, no entran moscas".  Flies do not enter a closed mouth.

  1. This is very good, I fall into the gossip trap sometimes, I think I'm just discussing someone in a kind way, but when I stop and really think about it, it could be gossip, I must be far more careful and guard my tongue!

  3. Well ladies, if you want a reminder to not gossip, consider reading Letters of St. James. A priest used to give that as a penance.

  4. So glad others are hearing from him! I'm hoping he'll post more of his sermons.
