Legislators Again Want to Revive Physician Assisted Suicide Bill in Hawaii

Hawaii Newspaper Wants State to Become Third to Legalize Assisted Suicide

A few years ago, PAS was defeated thanks in part to efforts people like Senator Mike Gabbard, Lt. Governor James "Duke" Aiona, doctors, lawyers and ordinary citizens who testified against this dangerous bill.

With Washington State recently becoming the second state in the union to legal euthanasia, it appears that this dangerous pro-death bill is again resurfacing and showing its ugly head.

Aloha Ester,

I applaud your efforts to create this blog to highlight the relevance of Biblical teachings to the issues of today's world.

I cannot agree however that Senator Mike Gabbard is a politician worthy of promoting or supporting. Despite professing to be a Catholic there is an abundance of evidence to the contrary confirming suspicions that Mike Gabbard is part of a Krishna cult quite prevalent in Hawaii, the Science of Identity Foundation, with their guru Chris Butler.

While he has maintained various moral laws including his campaigning against homosexuality the consequences of supporting Mike Gabbard are that he is given more power to further false religion including practices which blatantly contradict the Bible and blaspheme against Jesus Christ.

It is particularly troubling that Senator Gabbard has and is making attempts to pervert the beliefs of children, by publishing stories which glorify the deity Krishna as Lord and his Aloha Parenting Project, as well as giving interviews that he wishes he could spend more time teaching meditation - this being a key ritual in his guru's cult and a primary means of recruitment.

It is my humble opinion that maintaining a moral stance on controversial issues is not being achieved if Catholics are forced to support Senator Gabbard in order to do so.

I hope that more Catholics in Hawaii will visit www.mikegabbard.info and www.cultofbutler.com to be informed of what else Mike Gabbard stands for.

God Bless

Thank you for sharing this warning.

I have heard rumors in the past. However, this does not change the fact, that when my son and I attended the hearing of the PAS bill a few years ago, Mike Gabbard was there fighting against PAS. It is only fair that I recognize his efforts.

God bless,

Aloha mai Ester,

Mahalo nui loa for all you do for our faith, especially protecting the unborn and fighting against PAS.

I take strong issue with the previous comment attacking Senator Mike Gabbard. Whoever this person is, (interesting they didn’t even sign a name to their post) doesn’t know Mr. Gabbard.

I know for a fact that Senator Gabbard attends Mass, and lectors at St. Jude Church in Makakilo, because I go there as well.

The bottom line is: Who cares what religion Mike Gabbard belongs to? All I know is that he and his family have fought tirelessly and relentlessly for two sacred institutions that are important to all people of faith: life and marriage.

I vividly remember many years ago when gay activists picketed the Gabbards family restaurant and drove them out of business. Why? Because he had the courage to speak out publicly about how unhealthy homosexual behavior is.

The exact same scenario is being played out nationally by “gays” who are angry because Californians passed Prop 8, a constitutional amendment that protects traditional marriage. Every day there are more reports in the media that gays are physically attacking people and churches because they voted Yes on Prop 8.

As far as the statement, “Catholics being forced to support Senator Gabbard” is absurd. Nobody is forced to support Mr. Gabbard. He is an incredible public servant who served admirably on the Honolulu City Council, and was easily elected to the Hawaii State Senate. His daughter is just as committed having served in the House of Representatives, and now serving her country in the Hawaii National Guard, doing her second tour of duty in the Mideast. And, his wife Carol served on the Board of Education, as well.

This unsigned blogger who criticizes Senator Gabbard sounds to me like a religious bigot. I only wish there were thousands of Gabbards in the islands and in the world who were willing to stand up for their faith. The world would be a much better place.

Happy Thanksgiving and may the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ be upon you and your ohana.

Paul, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment here and to defend Sen. Gabbard.

We have enough fighting against evil in this world without fighting those who we should be supporting.

God bless,
